How To Get A Bathroom Sink Drain Cover Off

If your bathroom sink is draining slowly or not at all, the problem may be a clogged drain. One of the first things you should do is try to remove the drain cover and clean out any hair, soap scum, or other debris that may be blocking the drain.

Removing a bathroom sink drain cover is usually a simple task, but there are a few different ways to do it, depending on the type of drain cover you have. Here are the most common methods:

Pliers

If your drain cover has a small hole in the center, you can use a pair of pliers to remove it. Simply insert the tips of the pliers into the hole and squeeze the handles together.

Suction Cup

If your drain cover does not have a hole, you can use a suction cup to remove it. Wet the suction cup and place it over the drain cover. Press down on the suction cup and then pull up on the handle to remove the cover.

Screwdriver

If your drain cover is held in place by screws, you will need to use a screwdriver to remove it. Insert the screwdriver into the screw and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the screw. Once the screw is loose, you can remove the drain cover.

No Tools

Some drain covers can be removed by hand. Simply grab the drain cover and pull it straight up.

Once you have removed the drain cover, you can clean it out using a brush or a pair of tweezers. Be sure to remove all of the debris from the drain cover and the drain itself.

Once the drain is clean, you can replace the drain cover. If the drain cover is held in place by screws, be sure to tighten the screws securely.
