Common Causes of Delta Bathroom Faucet Leaks

The most common causes of leaking Delta bathroom faucets are:

  • Worn or damaged O-rings or seals
  • Loose or misaligned parts
  • Damaged or corroded cartridge

Tools and Materials You'll Need

Before you start repairing your leaking Delta bathroom faucet, gather the following tools and materials:

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Allen wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Replacement O-rings or seals (if needed)
  • Faucet cartridge (if needed)
  • Plumber's tape
  • Paper towels or a rag

Step-by-Step Repair Instructions

1. Turn off the water supply: Use the shut-off valves under the sink to turn off the hot and cold water supply to the faucet.

2. Remove the handle: Use the Allen wrench to remove the set screw on the top of the handle. Pull the handle straight up to remove it.

3. Remove the cartridge: Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on the top of the cartridge. Pull the cartridge straight up to remove it. If the cartridge is stuck, you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry it loose.

4. Inspect the cartridge and O-rings: Examine the cartridge and O-rings for any signs of wear or damage. If you find any damage, replace the cartridge and O-rings.

5. Apply plumber's tape: Wrap the threads of the new cartridge with plumber's tape.

6. Insert the new cartridge: Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and tighten the screws.

7. Reinstall the handle: Push the handle onto the faucet body and tighten the set screw.

8. Turn on the water supply: Slowly turn on the hot and cold water supply valves and check for any leaks.

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

If the leak persists after replacing the cartridge and O-rings, check the following:

  • Loose connections: Make sure all the connections are tight and secure.
  • Damaged hoses: Inspect the water supply hoses for any cracks or leaks. Replace any damaged hoses.
  • Faulty faucet body: In rare cases, the faucet body itself may be damaged and need to be replaced.
