How to Fix a Leaky Delta Two Handle Bathroom Faucet

A leaky bathroom faucet can be a nuisance, wasting water and driving up your utility bills. If you have a Delta two-handle bathroom faucet that's giving you trouble, don't despair. With a few simple tools and some basic know-how, you can fix the leak yourself in no time.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you fix a leaky Delta two-handle bathroom faucet:

Tools and Materials You'll Need:

* Adjustable wrench * Phillips head screwdriver * Flat head screwdriver * New faucet handle (if necessary) * New cartridge (if necessary)

Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply

Before you start working on the faucet, you need to turn off the water supply. There should be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to shut off the water.

Step 2: Remove the Faucet Handle

Once the water is turned off, you can remove the faucet handle. Most Delta two-handle faucets have a small screw on the top of the handle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw.

Once the screw is removed, you can pull the handle straight up to remove it.

Step 3: Replace the Cartridge

The cartridge is the part of the faucet that controls the flow of water. If the cartridge is worn or damaged, it can cause the faucet to leak.

To replace the cartridge, use a flathead screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the cartridge in place.

Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and tighten the screws to secure it.

Step 4: Reattach the Faucet Handle

Once the new cartridge is installed, you can reattach the faucet handle. Align the handle with the stem on the cartridge and push it down until it clicks into place.

Tighten the screw on the top of the handle to secure it.

Step 5: Turn On the Water Supply

Turn on the shut-off valves under the sink to restore the water supply. Check for leaks around the faucet handle and the base of the faucet.

Tips:

* If you're not sure which cartridge you need for your Delta faucet, you can contact Delta customer service or visit their website. * If you're not comfortable replacing the cartridge yourself, you can call a plumber for help. * Regular maintenance can help prevent your Delta faucet from leaking in the future. Clean the faucet regularly with a mild detergent and periodically check for loose screws or worn parts.
