How to Install Delta Bathroom Sink Faucets

Installing a Delta bathroom sink faucet is a relatively simple plumbing project that can be completed in an hour or two. However, it is important to follow the instructions carefully to ensure a proper installation.

Tools and Materials You'll Need:

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Plumber's putty
  • Teflon tape
  • Screwdriver
  • New Delta faucet
  • Basin wrench (optional)

Instructions:

1. Turn off the water supply to the sink. There are usually two shut-off valves under the sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to close them.

2. Remove the old faucet. Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the old faucet in place. If the nuts are corroded, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen them. Once the nuts are loose, you can remove the old faucet by lifting it straight up.

3. Clean the sink surface. Use a damp cloth to clean the surface of the sink where the new faucet will be installed. This will help to ensure a good seal.

4. Apply plumber's putty to the base of the new faucet. Roll a small piece of plumber's putty into a rope and place it around the base of the new faucet. This will help to create a watertight seal.

5. Install the new faucet. Align the new faucet with the holes in the sink and press it down into place. Tighten the nuts that hold the faucet in place using the adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten the nuts.

6. Connect the water supply lines. Wrap the threads of the water supply lines with Teflon tape. Screw the water supply lines onto the corresponding connections on the faucet. Tighten the connections using the adjustable wrench.

7. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. Slowly open the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water supply. Check for any leaks around the faucet base or the water supply connections. If you find any leaks, tighten the connections or apply more plumber's putty.

8. Finish the installation. Install the handles on the faucet and tighten them using the screwdriver. Enjoy your new Delta bathroom sink faucet!
