How to Install a Bathroom Vanity on Tile

Installing a bathroom vanity on tile is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few hours with the right tools and materials. By following these steps, you can ensure a professional-looking installation that will last for years to come.

Tools and Materials

  • Bathroom vanity
  • Vanity top
  • Vanity backsplash (optional)
  • Faucet
  • Drain
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
  • Level
  • Caulk gun
  • Caulk
  • Plumber's putty
  • Shims (optional)

Step 1: Prepare the Tile Floor

The first step is to prepare the tile floor by cleaning it thoroughly. Remove any dirt, dust, or debris that could interfere with the installation. If the tile is uneven, you may need to use shims to level it out.

Step 2: Assemble the Vanity

Once the floor is prepared, you can begin assembling the vanity. Start by attaching the vanity top to the base cabinet. Use a screwdriver to drive screws through the top of the cabinet and into the underside of the vanity top. Next, attach the vanity backsplash (if desired) to the back of the vanity top. Finally, install the faucet and drain.

Step 3: Position the Vanity

Carefully lift the vanity into place and position it against the wall. Use a level to make sure that the vanity is level both front-to-back and side-to-side. Once the vanity is level, use a pencil to mark the location of the screw holes on the wall.

Step 4: Secure the Vanity

Drill pilot holes at the marked locations on the wall. Insert screws into the pilot holes and drive them into the wall until they are snug. Be careful not to overtighten the screws, as this could damage the tile.

Step 5: Caulk the Vanity

Use a caulk gun to apply a bead of caulk around the base of the vanity where it meets the tile floor. Smooth the caulk with your finger or a caulk tool. This will help to seal the vanity and prevent water from seeping underneath it.

Step 6: Install the Plumbing

Attach the water supply lines to the faucet and drain. Use plumber's putty to seal the connections and prevent leaks. Once the plumbing is connected, turn on the water supply and check for leaks.

Step 7: Enjoy Your New Vanity

Congratulations! You have now successfully installed your bathroom vanity on tile. Step back and admire your work, and enjoy your new and improved bathroom.
