Installing PVC Pipe Under Bathroom Sink: A DIY Guide
Replacing or installing PVC pipe under a bathroom sink is a relatively simple plumbing task that most homeowners can do themselves with a few basic tools. By following these step-by-step instructions, you can save money and avoid the hassle of calling a plumber.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before you start, gather the following materials:
- PVC pipe (1-1/2 inch or 2 inch diameter)
- PVC pipe cutter
- PVC primer and cement

- 45-degree PVC elbows
- Pipe clamps
- Measuring tape
Step 2: Measure and Cut the Pipe
Measure the distance from the drain flange to the desired location of the p-trap. Cut the PVC pipe to this length using the PVC pipe cutter.
Step 3: Assemble the Drain Assembly
Connect the pipe you just cut to the drain flange using a coupling. Attach a 45-degree elbow to the other end of the pipe.
Step 4: Install the P-trap
Connect a tee fitting to the elbow. Insert the vertical leg of the tee into the p-trap and connect the horizontal leg of the tee to the drainpipe.
