How to Install a Delta Bathroom Sink Drain
Installing a bathroom sink drain is a relatively simple task that can be completed in just a few minutes. In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to easily install a Delta bathroom sink drain.
1. Gather your materials
Before you begin, you will need to gather the following materials:
- A new Delta bathroom sink drain
- A pair of pliers
- A screwdriver
- A putty knife
2. Remove the old drain
Place a rag or bucket under the sink to catch any water that may drip out. Use the pliers to loosen the drain nut and washer from the bottom of the sink. Once the nut is loose, remove it and the washer. The old drain should now be free to pull out from the sink.
3. Apply a bead of plumber's putty around the new drain
Roll a small bead of plumber's putty into a rope and apply it around the base of the new drain. The putty will help to create a watertight seal.
4. Install the new drain
Insert the new drain into the hole in the sink. Make sure that the putty is evenly distributed around the base of the drain. Tighten the drain nut by hand until it is snug. Then, use the pliers to tighten the nut further, but do not overtighten.
5. Install the washer and nut
Place the washer on the bottom of the drain and thread the nut onto the drain. Tighten the nut until it is snug, but do not overtighten.
6. Test the drain
Turn on the water and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, your new drain is installed correctly. Congratulations!
