New bathroom sink strainer
Adjustable wrench or pliers
Putty knife or flat-head screwdriver
Plumber's putty

Step 1: Remove the Old Strainer

Place the adjustable wrench or pliers around the base of the old strainer and turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. Once it's loose, carefully lift it out of the sink.

Step 2: Clean the Sink Opening

Use the putty knife or flat-head screwdriver to remove any old plumber's putty or debris from the sink opening. Make sure the surface is clean and smooth.

Step 3: Apply Plumber's Putty
