Essential Aspects of DIY Bathroom Sink Install

Upgrading your bathroom with a new sink can be a rewarding and budget-friendly project. By following these key steps, you can ensure a successful DIY bathroom sink install:

1. Planning and Preparation

Before starting, gather necessary tools (wrench, pliers, level) and materials (new sink, faucet, drain assembly). Turn off water supply and disconnect old sink. Measure and mark the new sink's location on the countertop.

2. Remove Old Sink

Disconnect water supply lines and drain assembly. Unscrew mounting brackets holding the sink to the countertop. Carefully lift and remove the old sink.

3. Install New Sink

Apply a bead of silicone sealant around the cutout on the countertop. Position the new sink and press firmly into place. Tighten mounting brackets securely.

4. Connect Water Supply Lines

Attach new water supply lines to the faucet using a wrench. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If any, tighten the connections.

5. Install Drain Assembly

Insert the drain assembly into the sink drain hole and secure it with a locknut from underneath. Tighten the locknut using pliers.

6. Connect Drain Tailpiece

Attach the drain tailpiece to the drain assembly using washers and a slip nut. Tighten the slip nut to create a leak-proof seal.

7. Install and Connect Faucet

Place the faucet on the sink and insert the mounting bolts through the holes. Secure the faucet with nuts and washers. Connect the water supply lines to the faucet.
