How to Get Paint Off Bathroom Floor Tiles

Spilling paint on bathroom floor tiles can be a real headache, but with the right techniques, you can remove it without damaging the tiles.

Identify the Type of Paint

First, determine the type of paint you spilled. Latex paints, which are water-based, are easier to remove than oil-based paints, which require stronger solvents.

Removing Latex Paint

For latex paint, start by scraping off any excess paint using a plastic putty knife. Avoid using metal tools, as they can scratch the tiles.

Next, create a solution of warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently scrub the paint stains. Rinse the tiles with clean water and dry them with a clean cloth.

Removing Oil-Based Paint

Oil-based paint requires a more aggressive approach.

Apply a commercial paint stripper to the paint stains according to the manufacturer's instructions. Leave the stripper on for the recommended time, and then use a plastic putty knife to scrape off the softened paint.

Rinse the tiles with water and a strong degreasing agent. Use a soft cloth to gently scrub the tiles, and then rinse them again with clean water.
