How To Install A Single Handle Bathroom Sink Faucet

Installing a single-handle bathroom sink faucet is a fairly simple plumbing project that can be completed in about an hour. By following these step-by-step instructions, you can save yourself the cost of hiring a plumber.

Materials You'll Need:

  • New single-handle bathroom sink faucet
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Plumber's putty
  • Teflon tape
  • Basin wrench
  • Phillips head screwdriver

Step 1: Remove the Old Faucet

Turn off the water supply to the sink by closing the shut-off valves beneath the sink. Open the faucet to release any remaining water in the lines. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the faucet in place. Once the nuts are loose, you can lift the old faucet off the sink.

Step 2: Prepare the New Faucet

Apply a thin bead of plumber's putty around the base of the new faucet. This will help to seal the faucet and prevent leaks. Wrap the threads of the faucet's mounting bolts with Teflon tape. This will help to create a watertight seal.

Step 3: Install the New Faucet

Position the new faucet on the sink and insert the mounting bolts through the holes in the sink. Tighten the nuts onto the mounting bolts until the faucet is secure. Use a basin wrench to tighten the nuts on the water supply lines.

Step 4: Connect the Water Supply Lines

Attach the water supply lines to the faucet's inlet valves. Use a wrench to tighten the nuts on the water supply lines. Make sure that the hot water line is connected to the hot water inlet valve and the cold water line is connected to the cold water inlet valve.

Step 5: Test the Faucet

Turn on the water supply to the sink and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts on the water supply lines or the mounting bolts until the leaks stop. Once you are satisfied that there are no leaks, you can use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the set screws on the faucet's handle.

Congratulations! You have now successfully installed a single-handle bathroom sink faucet.
