How to Remove a Bathroom Sink Drain Cover

If your bathroom sink is draining slowly or not at all, the drain cover may be clogged with hair, soap scum, or other debris. Removing the drain cover is a simple task that can be completed in a few minutes with the right tools. Here's how to do it:

Tools You'll Need

Adjustable wrench
Pliers
Old toothbrush or wire brush
Cloth or paper towels

Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply

Before you begin, turn off the water supply to the sink. This will prevent water from leaking out when you remove the drain cover.

Step 2: Remove the Stopper

If your sink has a pop-up stopper, you will need to remove it before you can remove the drain cover. To do this, simply pull up on the stopper to release it.

Step 3: Loosen the Drain Nut

Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the drain nut. The drain nut is located at the bottom of the drain cover. Turn the nut counterclockwise to loosen it.

Step 4: Remove the Drain Cover
