How to Remove Handle From Kohler Bathroom Faucet

Kohler bathroom faucets are known for their quality and durability, but even the best faucets can eventually need repairs. One common repair is replacing the handle. If your Kohler bathroom faucet handle is loose, cracked, or otherwise damaged, you can replace it yourself with a few simple tools.

Tools You'll Need:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Allen wrench (if applicable)
  • New Kohler bathroom faucet handle

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Before you begin, turn off the water supply to the faucet. You can do this by closing the valves under the sink or by turning off the main water supply to your home.

1. Remove the aerator (optional):

Some Kohler bathroom faucets have an aerator, which is a small screen that helps to aerate the water and reduce splashing. If your faucet has an aerator, you'll need to remove it before you can remove the handle.

To remove the aerator, use an adjustable wrench to loosen the aerator cap. Once the cap is loose, you can use your fingers to unscrew the aerator.

2. Remove the handle set screw:

Once the aerator is removed, you'll see a small set screw on the side of the handle. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the set screw.

3. Remove the handle:

Once the set screw is loose, you can pull the handle straight off the faucet. If the handle is stuck, you can use a gentle rocking motion to loosen it.

4. Install the new handle:

To install the new handle, simply push it onto the faucet until it clicks into place. Tighten the set screw to secure the handle.

5. Reinstall the aerator (optional):

If you removed the aerator, screw it back onto the faucet. Tighten the aerator cap using an adjustable wrench.

6. Turn on the water supply:

Once the new handle is installed, turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the set screw or the aerator cap until the leak stops.

Additional Tips:

  • If your Kohler bathroom faucet handle is leaking from the base, you may need to replace the O-rings.
  • If your Kohler bathroom faucet handle is difficult to turn, you may need to lubricate the handle with a silicone-based lubricant.
  • If you are not comfortable replacing the Kohler bathroom faucet handle yourself, you can call a plumber for assistance.
