How to Repair a Rusted Bathroom Sink Drain

Steps:

1. Turn Off the Water Supply:

Locate the water supply valves under the sink and turn them off to stop the flow of water to the sink.

2. Remove the Old Drain:

Place a bucket under the drain to catch any water or debris. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the drain nut that holds the old drain in place. Pull out the old drain.

3. Clean the Drain Hole:

Inspect the drain hole for any rust or debris. If there is significant rust, you can use a wire brush to remove it. Then, apply a small amount of plumber's putty to the threads of the new drain.

4. Install the New Drain:

Insert the new drain into the drain hole and tighten it using the wrench. Do not overtighten.

5. Apply Plumber's Putty:

Apply a small bead of plumber's putty to the rim of the drain where it meets the sink. This will help to seal the drain and prevent leaks.

6. Reattach the Drain Nut:
