How to Replace a Bathroom Faucet and Drain

Replacing a bathroom faucet and drain is not a daunting task and can be done by anyone with a few basic tools and a little bit of DIY experience. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get the job done.

Tools and Materials:

Replacement faucet
Replacement drain
Adjustable wrench
Basin wrench
Channellock pliers
Plumber's putty
Teflon tape
Bucket

Step 1: Prepare the Work Area

Turn off the water supply to the bathroom sink. Open the faucet to release any remaining water. Place a bucket under the sink to catch any spills.

Step 2: Remove the Old Drain

Loosen the slip nut that connects the drain body to the sink using an adjustable wrench. Remove the drain body and the old drain flange.

Step 3: Install the New Drain

Apply a thin layer of plumber's putty around the base of the new drain flange. Place the drain flange over the drain hole and tighten the slip nut until snug.

Step 4: Disconnect the Old Faucet

Disconnect the water lines from the old faucet using an adjustable wrench. Be careful not to overtighten the fittings.

Step 5: Remove the Old Faucet

Loosen the mounting nuts that secure the faucet to the sink using a basin wrench. Remove the faucet from the sink.

Step 6: Install the New Faucet

Wrap a few wraps of Teflon tape around the threads of the water supply lines. Connect the water lines to the new faucet. Place the faucet in the sinkhole and tighten the mounting nuts.
