How To Replace A Leaking Bathroom Faucet

A leaky bathroom faucet can be a nuisance and waste water. Replacing it is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few hours. Here are the steps on how to replace a leaking bathroom faucet:

1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need a new faucet, adjustable wrench, basin wrench, Teflon tape, and a bucket.

2. Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There will be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.

3. Open the faucet to release any remaining water in the lines.

4. Remove the aerator, if there is one. The aerator is the small screen at the end of the faucet. It can be unscrewed by hand or with a wrench.

5. Disconnect the water supply lines from the faucet. Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the lines in place. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts.

6. Remove the mounting nuts that hold the faucet in place. There will be two nuts, one on each side of the faucet. Use the basin wrench to loosen the nuts.

7. Remove the old faucet and install the new faucet. Apply a small amount of Teflon tape to the threads of the new faucet. Insert the faucet into the hole in the sink and tighten the mounting nuts.

8. Reconnect the water supply lines to the faucet. Hand-tighten the nuts and then use the adjustable wrench to tighten them further.

9. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts further.

10. Reinstall the aerator.

Replacing a leaking bathroom faucet is a simple task that can be completed in a few hours. By following these steps, you can save money and avoid the hassle of a leaky faucet.
