How to Uninstall a Bathroom Light Fixture

Replacing the bathroom light fixture is a relatively simple task that can be completed in less than an hour. In order to do this, you will need to gather a few tools and materials, including a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and a new light fixture. Here are the steps on how to uninstall a bathroom light fixture:

1. Turn off the power to the light fixture. This can be done by flipping the breaker switch that controls the fixture or by removing the fuse that powers it.

2. Remove the glass shade or cover. This is usually held in place by a few screws. Once the screws are removed, the shade or cover can be carefully lifted off.

3. Disconnect the wires from the light fixture. There will be two or three wires connected to the fixture, including a black wire, a white wire, and possibly a ground wire. Use the pliers to twist the wire nuts counterclockwise and then pull the wires apart.

4. Remove the mounting screws. There will be two or more screws that hold the fixture in place. Remove these screws and the fixture will come loose.

5. Pull the fixture out of the electrical box. Be careful not to damage the wires or the electrical box.

6. Disconnect the wires from the electrical box. There will be two or three wires connected to the electrical box, including a black wire, a white wire, and possibly a ground wire. Use the pliers to twist the wire nuts counterclockwise and then pull the wires apart.

7. Remove the electrical box from the wall. This is usually held in place by a few screws. Once the screws are removed, the electrical box can be pulled out of the wall.

8. Install the new light fixture. Follow the reverse of the steps above to install the new light fixture.

9. Turn on the power to the light fixture. The new light fixture should now be working.
