Moen Bathroom Faucet Dripping Repair

A dripping bathroom faucet can be a constant annoyance, wasting water and driving up your utility bills. Fortunately, repairing a dripping Moen bathroom faucet is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few minutes with the right tools and materials. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get the job done.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Materials

Before you start, you'll need to gather the following tools and materials:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Replacement Moen cartridge
  • Plumber's tape

Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply

Once you have your tools and materials, turn off the water supply to your faucet. There will be two shut-off valves under your sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.

Step 3: Remove the Aerator

The aerator is the small screen attached to the end of the faucet spout. Use a pair of pliers to unscrew the aerator and remove it from the faucet spout.

Step 4: Remove the Handle

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the handle in place. Once the screws are removed, pull the handle straight up to remove it from the faucet.

Step 5: Remove the Cartridge

Use a pair of pliers to grasp the cartridge and pull it straight up to remove it from the faucet body. Be careful not to damage the O-rings on the cartridge.

Step 6: Install the New Cartridge

Apply a thin layer of plumber's tape to the threads of the new cartridge. Then, insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and push it down until it is fully seated.

Step 7: Reinstall the Handle

Place the handle back on the faucet body and secure it with the screws that you removed earlier.

Step 8: Reinstall the Aerator

Screw the aerator back onto the faucet spout.

Step 9: Turn on the Water Supply

Turn on the water supply to your faucet. Check for leaks and tighten any connections as necessary.

Step 10: Enjoy Your Drip-Free Faucet

Your Moen bathroom faucet should now be drip-free. If it is still dripping, you may need to replace the O-rings on the cartridge or call a plumber for assistance.
