Repair Dripping Delta Bathroom Faucet: A Comprehensive Guide
A dripping bathroom faucet is not only annoying, but it can also waste water and increase your utility bills. If you're facing this issue with your Delta bathroom faucet, don't worry! Repairing it is relatively simple and can be done with a few common tools.
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
Before you start, gather the following tools:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Allen wrench
- Adjustable wrench
- Replacement parts (if necessary)
Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply
Locate the shutoff valves under the sink and turn them off. This will prevent water from flowing into the faucet while you're working.
Step 3: Remove the Handle
Use the Allen wrench to remove the small screw holding the handle in place. Then, pull the handle straight up.
Step 4: Replace the Cartridge
If the leak is coming from the handle, you'll need to replace the cartridge. To do this, use the Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the cartridge cap. Then, pull out the old cartridge and insert the new one. Tighten the cartridge cap.
Step 5: Replace the O-Rings
If the leak is coming from the base of the faucet, you'll need to replace the O-rings. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the base plate in place. Then, carefully remove the O-rings and replace them with new ones.
Step 6: Reassemble the Faucet
Once you've replaced the necessary parts, reassemble the faucet in reverse order. Tighten all screws and bolts securely.
Step 7: Turn On the Water Supply
Turn the shutoff valves back on and check for any leaks. If you notice any leaks, tighten the appropriate screws or bolts.
Additional Tips
- If you're not sure what type of cartridge or O-rings you need, refer to the Delta website or contact Delta customer support.
- If the leak is still persisting, there may be a more serious issue with the faucet. Call a qualified plumber for assistance.
- Regularly cleaning and maintaining your Delta bathroom faucet can help prevent leaks and extend its lifespan.
